03/22/2009 - Pittsburgh, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Martin Biron made 27 saves to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to a 3-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in an important Eastern Conference playoff race matchup at the Igloo.
Simon Gagne and Scott Hartnell scored power-play goals for the Flyers, who have won two in a row after losing three of their previous four and moved two points ahead of Pittsburgh in the race for fourth place in the East.
Kris Letang netted the lone goal for Pittsburgh, which had a three-game win streak stopped. The Penguins have 86 points and the Flyers now have 88 in the race for home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
Marc-Andre Fleury made 17 saves in defeat, as the Penguins failed to register a point for the first time in 13 games (10-1-2). Pittsburgh's last loss in regulation came in a 5-2 setback at Washington on February 22.
Gagne gave Philadelphia a 1-0 lead just 5:19 into the contest with his 29th goal of the season, as he picked up a loose puck in the left circle and beat Fleury on the power play. Hartnell's 27th goal of the season just 2:54 into the second period made it 2-0.
Biron was outstanding for the remainder of the stanza, turning aside all 11 Penguin shots. A number of saves were of the spectacular variety.
Tyler Kennedy was unable to penetrate Biron with a point-blank chance from the low right circle just a few seconds after Hartnell's goal and the Flyer netminder made two dynamite saves soon after, one diving across the goal mouth with the shaft of his stick.
The Penguins finally beat Biron midway through the third on a power play. Sidney Crosby pulled the puck out of a scrum in the right corner and skated toward the net before sending a pass across the top of the crease for an onrushing Letang, who buried a shot into the empty side of the cage for his eighth goal of the season.
Pittsburgh failed to generate much of an offensive threat afterward and Biron's best save down the stretch came when he kicked out the left pad to deny Jordan Staal from the slot with 2:42 remaining.
Pittsburgh pulled Fleury with 40 seconds to play and Darroll Powe found the empty net with 27.2 seconds left to seal it.

Matt Kenseth And Kevin Harvick Favorites To Take NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship
(September 15)—The NASCAR season has hit the homestretch with the opening event on this year’s Chase for the Cup taking place this weekend at the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway. With 10 races remaining to determine the Cup Series champion, leading online sportsbook MySportsbook.com today announced odds on all 10 Chase qualifying drivers capturing the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship.
One of the largest sportsbook sites on the Internet, MySportsbook.com currently lists the top two drivers in the point standings as the early favorites to win the Nextel Cup. Entering the Chase for the Cup with a slim five-point lead in the point standings, 2003 NASCAR champ Matt Kenseth has been made a slight favorite to win his second Cup at 7/2 betting odds. 2001 Cup Rookie of the Year Kevin Harvick has betting odds listed at 5/2 and four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon is listed at 6/1 to capture the Nextel Cup this year.
Hoping to follow in the footsteps of his legendary father who won six NASCAR titles, Dale Earnhardt Jr. stands at 8/1 to breakthrough with his first Cup victory. Staying with the family theme, MySportsbook.com lists 2005 Rookie of the Year Kyle Busch at 14/1 to succeed big brother Kurt’s 2004 NASCAR title. While Kasey Kahne was the final driver to qualify for the Chase with a third place finish last week, the oddsmakers give him a fighting chance at 10/1 mainly due to several mile-and-a-half tracks remaining on the schedule. Despite going winless on the NASCAR circuit this season, Jeff Burton enters the Chase at 5/1 to capture the Cup title. Meanwhile, rookie Denny Hamlin is 4/1 to win the championship, while veteran driver Mark Martin enters the Chase for the Cup as a 15/1 long shot to win his first NASCAR title in his 24th and final season.
MySportsbook.com will offer comprehensive Nascar betting lines on every race remaining on the Nextel Cup series including driver match-ups, props and odds to win each race. For a complete list of NASCAR odds, please visit www.MySportsbook.com.

Oddsmakers have released the odds for the 2009 AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award and Seattle Seahawks linebacker Aaron Curry has been made the opening favorite.
Seattle took Curry with the fourth overall pick in April's NFL draft and plan on inserting him into its starting lineup right away. The Hawks traded linebacker Julian Peterson in the offseason, so Curry is expected to have a significant role in Seattle's defense next year and that's one of the primary reasons he is the favorite to win the NFL ROY Award.
Oddsmakers from online sportsbook MySportsbook.com have made Curry a 5/1 favorite to win this year's NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. Given that he was the best defensive prospect in this year's draft and how he'll have plenty of opportunities to make plays in '09, Curry offers a ton of value at 5/1.
Another thing working for Curry is the position he plays. A linebacker has won the defensive ROY award six straight times and eight of the last nine years. Jerod Mayo, Patrick Willis, DeMeco Ryans, Shawne Merriman, Jonathan Vilma, Terrell Suggs, Kendrell Bell and Brian Urlacher were the most recent linebackers to take home the award.
Following Curry at 5/1 are Tyson Jackson (Chiefs) at 7/1, James Laurinaitas (Rams) at 8/1, Brian Orakpo (Redskins) at 10/1, Rey Maualuga (Bengals) at 10/1 and Jerry Peria (Falcons) at 10/1.
All the players mentioned above are expected to start for their respective teams, but Jackson and Peria are going to have a tough time being recognized on a national level given they're both defensive linemen. D-linemen rarely put up the numbers that it takes to win an individual award like the ROY.
A couple of players with some value are Clay Matthews (Packers) at 12/1 and Larry English (Chargers) at 15/1. Matthews is expected to start at outside linebacker in Green Bay's new 3-4 defense and could rack up a ton of tackles. English, who was an impressive player at Northern Illinois, is expected to be a situational pass rusher for the Chargers and could rack up a ton of sacks.
