12/23/2009 - Orchard Park, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Buffalo Bills have placed rookie safety Jairus Byrd on injured reserve because of a groin injury.
Byrd had been playing through the groin problem for most of the past two months and still leads the NFL with nine interceptions. He will finish one shy of the team record of 10 interceptions, set by Billy Atkins in 1962 and matched by Tom Janik in 1967.
A second-round pick in the 2009 draft after a standout collegiate career at Oregon, Byrd becomes the record 18th Bills player to be placed on injured reserve this season. The previous mark was 17 in 2007.
The Bills filled the roster spot by signing linebacker Josh Stamer, who played his first five NFL seasons with the club. Stamer spent 2008 with Tennessee and this season appeared in just two games for Cleveland before being waived on November 24.
Buffalo also signed linebacker Ryan Manalac to the practice squad.

Kurt Warner to start, Matt Leinart to watch
Despite the debate that's swirling , Kurt Warner will remain the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, coach Dennis Green said today. The Arizona Cardinals are the +7 point underdog at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com for this Sunday's game.
Green's comment came in a statement released by the team following an ESPN report that Green decided that rookie Matt Leinart would replace Warner as starter for Sunday's game at Atlanta.
"Generally talking about the starting lineup is not something we do," Green told the AP. "However, given the speculation that was out there we want to make it clear. We're disappointed after last week, but we still expect to be a playoff football team and we fully expect Kurt Warner to be the quarterback that leads us. That has not changed."
